Now is a time of uncertainty in the Fire Department for two reasons, both of which are expected to be resolved soon.

WYOMING, MI – The city could use as many as 20 more firefighters to improve “woefully inadequate” deployment, according to a consultant.

JACKSON, MI — Jackson and Summit Township firefighters will again sport pink shirts this October to raise money for breast cancer research.

Injuries and illnesses are putting a hurt on the Port Huron Fire Department. The city budgets 13 firefighters per 24-hour shift, but currently is unable to always fill those spots.

Six local fire departments have signed a deal to begin working toward automatic mutual aid and they hope that will mean faster, more efficient service.

ALLEN PARK — The City Council will wait at least another week to decide whether to accept a federal grant to hire six firefighters.

A Wisconsin judge has struck down nearly all of the state law championed by Gov. Scott Walker that effectively ended collective bargaining rights for most public workers.

Sept. 11 had a more special meaning for the Redford Township Fire Department this year.

It has been 11 years since the terrorists attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and on what has become known as Patriot Day, people around the country took time to remember the people who perished in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pa.

LINCOLN PARK — The Fire Department is trying to get approval from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to alter a grant it was awarded.
