1/20/13: The Sterling Heights Fire Department has been awarded $232,548 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters grant program. The department will use the grant to replace all of its Lifepack monitors on its advance life support engines and the bottles firefighters use in their self-contained breathing apparatus, according to a news release. The grant also will be used for fire officer training courses for more than 30 department personnel.
