Cancer Presumption Updates

The House Appropriations Committee just approved 3 million to fund our cancer presumption fund!!!!! We now have both the senate and house approving the same amount for next year's budget. Now they both have to give final approval in the floor and then on to the governor. Another big step forward to finally protecting our fire fighters.
House Appropriations approves $3 million for firefighter cancer coverage
Firefighters rallied in Lansing earlier this year, pushing for cancer coverage they were promised by the state more than a year ago.
This outline was prepared by the Citizens Research Council and is designed to be a ready reference to the 60 taxes levied by state and local government in Michigan. It contains information on each of the 38 state and 22 local taxes effective as of the publication date, including:
A description of each of the 60 state and local taxes and historical collections from major taxes.
Minimum requirements shall be but are not limited to: high school graduate, minimum age 18. Preference will be given to applicants with an Associate degree, or adequate experience as a fire fighter/paramedic, as determined by the City, may substitute for the Associate Degree.
The Garden City firefighters L1911 will be holding their 15th
Annual charity golf outing on Friday June 17,2016 at Fox hills golf course
in Plymouth Michigan. Registration is at 830am, tee time 930am, price is
$100 includes 18 holes of golf with cart,continental breakfast,lunch at
the turn and dinner with 3 hr open bar and unlimited beverages on the
course.
City of Marquette is now taking applications.
FIREFIGHTER / PARAMEDIC
The City of Marquette is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. Applicants must be certified under NFPA Fire Fighter I and II and possess a State of Michigan paramedic license. Must obtain Red Cross waterfront lifeguard certification within one year of hire.
Garden City Firefighters 15th annual charity golf outing is being held on June 17th 2016 at Fox Hills Golf Course. Entry fee of $100 per golfer includes 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch and dinner with open bar and unlimited beverages on the course. We will also have 50/50, raffle and door prizes. Hope to see everyone there for a great day of golf.
