TCFD Hiring 9 Firefighters
Traverse City Fire Department is recruiting firefighters with either EMT-Basic or Paramedic licensure. Paramedic new hires will be placed into a 6-month probationary period that is mentor guided. EMT-B new hires will do the 6-month functional probationary period and remain probationary until successful completion of Paramedic training. EMT-B new hires will be sponsored in an upcoming Paramedic program with all expenses paid and all hours compensated. All new hires are not considered daily manpower for staffing purposes until the completion of the 6-month probation period.
Starting July 1, 2024, TCFD will begin a build-up of staffing to transition towards full ALS transport. The department has long-term funding for a 30-personnel suppression roster. That is an increase of 9 positions that are to be filled in the next 12 months. Daily staffing will be at 8-personnel per day minimum serving the two fire stations.
