Leland Township has an opening for a full-time Firefighter!

Come work in beautiful Leland Township, about 20 miles northwest of Traverse City! We protect Fishtown, Lake Leelanau, and the miles of Lake Michigan Shoreline in our township.

• Budgeted NON-SAFER position
• Firefighter/Paramedic preferred. Also accepting Firefighter/EMT and Paramedic only with conditional offer of passing a provided fire academy
• All Hazard department providing Primary ALS transport and Suppression services
• Respond to approximately 520 calls per year
• 48/96 work schedule with no residency requirement
• 2 fire stations with roster allowing for 9 full time personnel (3 per shift)
• Full line of apparatus including ladder truck, echo unit, 21ft rescue boat, snowmobile, and even an EMS bike team
• Firefighter/Paramedic base wage of $53,312-$70,504 after 5 years of full-time service
• Firefighter/EMT base wage of $48,438-$54,508 after 4 years of full-time service
• Lateral transfer of up to 3 years ($61,026) for prior experience (Determined by the hiring board)
• Opportunity for 100% paid fire academy or Paramedic program
• 8% of GROSS wage (Including overtime) contributed by the township to MERS defined contribution with optional 457b contribution by employee
• Up to 96 hours of vacation/PTO on start date
• 96 hours paternity/maternity leave
• Yearly Paramedic bonus for years licensed ($500-$1000), yearly full-time service longevity bonus ($600-$1750), one time degree stipend ($500-$1500), and up to $2000 tuition reimbursement per year
• 1-1/2 times wage for working holidays and 8 automatically paid holidays
• 5% employee contribution towards BCBS medical/dental/vision insurance (Provided on start date)
• Good working relationship between the union and administration/township board
• Recently passed millage and supportive community
