2nd Annual Fire Fighters Feeding Michigan Food Drive
Building on last year’s success, the MPFFU is proud to announce the 2nd Annual Fire Fighters Feeding Michigan Food Drive.
In 2025, our locals came together to raise more than $20,000 to help combat food insecurity across our state. As the holiday season approaches, we’re ready to do it again—and we’re asking our locals to step up to the plate and help deliver an even greater impact.
The MPFFU Public Relations Committee is asking each of our locals to participate. We understand that this is no small ask and that every local has different resources and capabilities. However, with more than 148 locals across Michigan, we’re confident that by working together, we can build on last year’s success and provide meaningful support to communities throughout our state.
Supporting Michigan Food Banks
The Public Relations Committee, along with MPFFU leadership, has once again selected three food bank organizations to receive donations:
- Hidden Harvest
- Gleaners
- Feeding America
These organizations provide an effective way for us to reach as many people as possible throughout Michigan. Each has a broad distribution network, a proven track record of serving communities in need, and a low cost-per-meal that helps maximize the impact of every dollar donated.
What's Different This Year?
This year, we’re increasing the suggested donation to $250 per local in hopes of surpassing last year’s $20,000 total.
We also plan to recognize the top-donating locals through MPFFU social media exposure, as well as potential traditional media coverage.
While $250 is the suggested donation, every contribution makes a difference. We understand that every local’s circumstances are different, and all support is welcome and appreciated.
More Than Just a Donation
The benefits of this food drive extend far beyond the meals we help provide.
This is an opportunity to show the communities we serve that firefighters are there for them beyond the emergency runs. By coming together to support families facing food insecurity, we can strengthen our connection with the public, demonstrate the values of our members, and continue building trust and a positive image for our Union.
We’d like to thank every local that participated last year, as well as our entire membership for continuing to support MPFFU initiatives. With your help, we know we can surpass the $20,000 raised in 2025 and make an even greater difference this year.
All donations should be pledged or checks mailed to the MPFFU no later than November 30, 2026, so that donations can be distributed to the selected food banks by the end of December.
