Firefighter Fill the Boot Drive nets $7,100 for MDA

About 10 Frenchtown Township Firefighters raised more than $7,100 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association during a three-day Fill the Boot collection held July 18-20 at Stewart and Telegraph Rds.

The firefighters took turns standing in uniform at the intersection to accept donation in a firefighter's boot. Members of Local 3233, International Association of Firefighters, conducted the drive and will donate the money to the MDA to use for research for a cure to muscular dystrophy, said John DeBarr, secretary of the local and a firefighter-paramedic for the department.
