The City of Kentwood Fire Department is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Firefighter position. The Firefighter responsibilities include the following:
Performs and responds to fire situations;
Performs periodic inspection and fire prevention duties;
Perform equipment maintenance and household details;
Participates in fire drills and attends regular classes in firefighting, fire prevention, EMS, and equipment maintenance;
Inspects area to ensure thorough knowledge of all streets, alleys, and buildings; and
Administers medical care/first aid to injured people when necessary.
Qualified applicants will possess all of the following:
High School Diploma/GED;
EMT-B certification (proof required);
State of Michigan certification as a Firefighter II (proof required); and
Certification in HAZMAT operations.
This is a full-time position with excellent benefits. Firefighters work on average 52.50 hours per week, 24.25 hour shifts, days vary. The starting annual salary $46,239. Please see the Job Description for more details about this position.
