Wages and Benefits: $70,000- $75,000 salary range annually DOQ

Van Buren Fire Department
Van Buren Charter Township is located in Western Wayne County Michigan. This community is with in the southwestern most part of Wayne County bordering Canton Township, to the north, Romulus to the east, Sumpter Township to the south and Washtenaw County to the west. The fire department currently staffs 1 full time Deputy Director, 1 full time Fire Marshall, 1 part-time Fire Inspector and 50 paid-on-call Firefighters. We have two fire stations that are staffed 24/7 with duty crew personnel, comprised of our paid-on-call members, who are highly trained and committed to providing fast and effective response and care to a population of almost 29,000 citizens plus visitors. With two major freeways, an airport, a 1270 acre inland lake and a multitude of business and residential dwellings Van Buren Township demands a department of highly qualified and trained fire personnel. Our Fire Department is committed to providing the highest quality fire prevention, fire suppression, specialty rescue, and emergency medical services to the residents, guests, and visitors of Van Buren Township. General Duty Statement:
The Van Buren Township Public Safety Department is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, progressive, thinking, experienced leader with paid-on-call firefighters for the Fire Department. Our ideal candidate for the Deputy Director of Public Safety-Fire Services, will lead the Fire Department and be a community role model. Firefighter retention and recruitment, fire prevention, fire inspections and plan reviews are priority functions for the community. This is a full time exempt position.
